Do you want to
descend down upon a huge
historic shipwreck, and swim through the
wheel-house
or engine room? What about drifting along a deep reef wall
in Cayman Brac, that seems to go down forever?
YOU CAN!
We believe that
a good diver is always learning. When you continue your education, you
gain more knowledge and skills, and you become a much more comfortable,
confident,
and competent diver. This, in turn, will make you a safer
diver, and you will have more FUN!
Many dive shops focus only on the
basic-level open water diver, and don’t offer
any classes to further
your diving skills. We at Mac’s have always strived to
be different.
One word describes our unique con-ed program:
flexible!
By completing
specialty programs, you can climb the ladder of diver
certification levels.
The different levels are:
SSI
Advanced Adventurer
The optional Advanced Adventurer can be the entry to
continuing
education, especially for those divers who cannot
decide which specialty courses they want to learn. During the Advanced
Adventurer Program you will have the chance to try out 5 different
specialties.
You will complete one open water training dive per specialty in order to
get a better understanding for each specialty area. Later, you can
choose to complete all
or just a few of your selected specialties through a Specialty Course
by completing the second dive and finishing all academic requirements.
SSI’s
intermediate diver rating is higher than most any other
agency’s
advanced courses. To earn the certification for
Specialty Diver,
you must complete 2 specialty courses and
have logged a minimum of 12
dives. For a list of specialty
classes, see below.
SSI
Advanced Open Water Diver SSI’s Advanced Diver rating stands alone in the industry,
with
the highest combination of diving knowledge and experience.
No
other agency’s advanced diver level compares. To earn
the certification
for Advanced Open Water Diver, you must
complete 4 specialty
courses and have logged a minimum
of 24 dives. For a list of specialty
classes, see below.
SSI
Master Diver
SSI’s Master Diver rating is one of the most elite ratings in
diving
today. Divers that have completed this level have combined
the
knowledge, skills and experience to truly call themselves
Master Divers.
To earn the certification for Master Diver, you
must complete 4 specialty courses PLUS the Diver Stress &
Rescue program, and have logged a minimum of 50 dives. For a list
of specialty
classes, see below.
Here’s how it works:
You can earn your Specialty,
Advanced, and Master Diver certifications by either
completing an
Advanced Program, or customize your levels by partaking in the
“Specialty
of the Month” Program.
This is a con-ed
class that includes 4 specialties of various topics. The most common,
for example, is DEEP, WRECK, NAVIGATION, and NIGHT/LIMITED VISIBILITY.
These
are “bundled” together in a several session program, along with
the appropriate dives.
This is a quicker method of earning your
different levels, since they are all pre-planned,
and combined
together. This is perfect for the diver who wants to complete their
advanced certification all at once.
With
today’s busy schedules, we realize that committing to a multiple-session
class format
is challenging. That is why we developed a way that you
can earn different diver levels
at your own pace and budget!
We offer over a dozen one-night
specialty classes. When you complete the required
number of
specialties, along with the appropriate dives, you earn the different
diver
ratings.
This is what we call our
“Specialty of the Month” program!
